Digital detox is a hot topic now. How to wean off from addiction to gadgets, in a healthy and fun way! Not only we adults are seriously thinking of this for us, but also for our children.
The new normal has escalated this problem. Confined to their homes and physically away from their friends, our children are keeping a busy life online.
So is technology more harmful than beneficial? How about using technology for physical and mental health activities and have a stronger body and a calmer mind?
On 19th June, 2021, KiddyPi organised a unique online workshop for 6 to 16 year olds. The Yoga + Tech event was a perfect balance between gaining knowledge of technology, building cool coding and app projects, and fun yoga activities by an internationally renowned instructor.
An added bonanza was that this event was completely free of cost.
The workshop was themed to celebrate the spirit of the International Yoga Day (scheduled for 21st June, 2021) with technology as the icing on the cake.
70+ children took part (several of them had their parents also joining). It was a familial and convivial time.
The participants joined from throughout the length and breadth of our country and also from overseas countries like Australia.
Some exciting contests were held, e-certificates and rewards were distributed after the event.
The Yoga Session
The most anticipated event of fun yoga activities began at 3:15 PM IST under the proficient supervision of our Chief Guest, Ms. Hetal Mehta Pendse, Senior Faculty – Art of Living, Yoga and Meditation, Specialized in training children and youth.
We already conveyed the prerequisites for the workshop to the participants. As per that, they had finished their lunch at least 2 hours before the event started. The time gap saved them from feeling lethargic or showing a reluctance to actively participate in yoga activities.
The participants put forth some tricky questions before Hetal ji. Like a master batsman, she drove the googlies, beyond the boundary.
Exciting apps and coding projects pull the attention of children with a knack for technology. Our coding maestro Sandeep Srinivas showcased some cool apps to the participants. The yoga game app became popular with the kids, instantly.
Some of Sandeep’s students created Scratch-based projects while some others built mobile apps themed on Yoga.
On Saturday, 26th June, 2021, we are organising a follow-up, online workshop. There will be more fun and games, as well as demos of exciting apps created by the students of our STEM courses. Do join us at 4:30 PM IST. The session will be conducted by the proficient trainers of KiddyPi. Contact +91-98457-22549 for attending the session.
