Hello li’l friends,
We hope that you spent a lovely Navratri with your near and dear ones (maintaining the COVID protocols). Many of you were also preparing for exams scheduled right after the Navratri vacations. In keeping with the festive-learning vibe, team KiddyPi brought a unique kids activity event – Robo Koluvu. In case you missed it, please read on to feel the excitement that we had in the live session!
Navratri Bommai Golu in Tamil is the beautiful arrangement of figures of Devis & Devtas. During Navratri, people create such arrangements in homes, do Pujas and bask in the divine presence. The tradition is known by different names in different parts of India. In Telugu, it is known as Bommala Koluvu and in Kannada it is known as Bombe Habba.
At Robo Koluvu, instead of a court of toys, we created a court of robos out of mBots, Codey Rockies, Beebots, Code-a-pillars, Kiddyblocks, Hovercrafts and Airblocks.
Participants chose their preferred robots and we showed them the maneuverings with thorough explanations. However, the right to choose had to be earned by the participants.
As you can expect nothing but excitement at every step of our special events/ weekend workshops/ regular sessions, the right to choose concept was also not devoid of a thrill learning activity. For this, participants cracked a quiz round and the top 3 got the right to choose their favourite robos from the Koluvu.
Participants opted for the hovercraft drone, Codey Rocky and mBot.
Programmable and transformable hovercraft showcased in the event, was not only entertaining but also educational. First thing first, coming to the entertainment factor, it allows for DIY trials and children can build their own hovercrafts by readjusting the parts.
Codey Rocky is a coding companion for children. It is a stand-alone remote controller with more than 10 advanced electronic modules. Children can learn coding with the help of simple drag-and-drop, graphical programming modules (Scratch Programming). They can access the electronic modules by writing their own programs.
Rocky is the vehicle to transport Codey anywhere!
Codey Rocky is the perfect tool for kids to transform ideas for practical use through codes.
The amazing world of robots gets a real foothold with cute, economic mBots. Students can build robotics projects quickly with the help of mBots and a Scratch-based programming software, mBlock.
mBots are optimized for classroom learning. Students can also operate them offline by translating Scratch codes to Arduino codes and finally uploading them to in-built Arduino boards.
Given the success of Robo Koluvu, we are repeating the event on Saturday, 23rd Oct – 4:30 to 6:00 PM, IST.
